Tesla Autopilot Crash Victim’s Wife Speaks Out The wife of Walter Huang, who was killed when his Tesla Model X crashed into a highway divider in California, gave statements on the aftermath of her husband’s death. Sevonne Huang told ABC affiliate KGO, “I’ve not just lost my husband, I lost my best friend.” Huang was killed while his vehicle was in an autopilot-enabled mode, which Tesla argued could have been prevented. “…the only way for this accident to have occurred is if Mr. Huang was not paying attention to the road, despite the car providing multiple warnings to do so.” Walter’s brother, Will Huang, told KGO that Walter often complained that the autopilot feature would steer the vehicle toward the barrier. “According to the family, Mr. Huang was well aware that Autopilot was not perfect and, specifically, he told them it was not reliable in that exact location, yet he nonetheless engaged Autopilot at that location."
