Baltimore Has 10 Homicide-Free Days for First Time Since 2013

Baltimore Has 10 Homicide-Free Days for First Time Since 2013 CNN reported that the city has not seen a homicide in a little over a week, making it the first time since Oct. 1 to Oct. 10 in 2013. In 2016, the FBI reported there were 51.4 homicides per 100,000 residents. Last year, out of 620,000 residents, there were 343 homicides, according to the Baltimore Police Department. That means 2017 marked the highest number of homicides in Baltimore since 1993. The decrease in violence can be attributed to the grassroots efforts by the Baltimore Ceasefire group. The team works to reduce crime on the streets of Baltimore by putting up posters, speaking with residents, and handing out flyers. Erricka Bridgeford, community activist to CNN
